What we do

The association involves itself in all kinds of issues that affect the city centre environment and which have to date included:

  • Opposing the Guided Bus Scheme

By commissioning a lengthy report by a Cambridge PhD student into the negative effects on the city centre environment that this proposal would envisage including increased traffic congestion, noise and air pollution. We were represented at the public enquiry by Anthony Bowen, of Jesus College, and are currently awaiting the Inspector's report on the proposal.

  • City Centre Redevelopment

The association have been consulted upon and have been monitoring the development schemes closely.

  • Mooring on the Cam, Community Safety and the Council's licensing policy for licensed premises.

  • The proposals for traffic in the city centre

  • Proposals for Drummer Street Bus Station and the proliferation of bus traffic that has emerged in recent years, and any threat that might involve the reduction of Christ's Pieces.
